02What Are Cookies & Browser Storage?

Cookies are small pieces of information that websites can store on your device.

Websites can also use similar browser technologies, including local storage and session storage, to remember information or provide particular features.

For simplicity, websites often discuss all of these technologies together as “cookies”, although technically they are not all cookies.

The current Monocle & Co. website does not set cookies of its own. It uses a very small amount of first-party browser storage for functional purposes.

03The Browser Storage We Use

Opening sequence preference

Duration: Up to 30 days

This stores a timestamp indicating that you have already seen our opening sequence.

It allows us to avoid repeatedly showing the full introduction when you return to the website.

It does not contain your name, contact details or a unique advertising identifier, and we do not use it to track your activity across other websites.

Type: Session storage
Duration: Up to 12 hours or until the browser session ends

When you begin entering an enquiry on our homepage, we temporarily store the information you have entered in your browser so that it can follow you to our Contact page without requiring you to type everything again.

Depending on what you enter, this may include your:

• names;
• email address;
• telephone number;
• wedding date;
• venue; and
• information or ideas you have entered about your wedding.

This draft information remains in your browser and is not sent to Monocle & Co. simply because you typed it into the form.

We receive the information only when you choose to submit your enquiry.

04Vimeo

We use Vimeo to host and play selected wedding films.

We have deliberately designed the website so that the Vimeo player does not load automatically when you visit a page containing a film.

It loads only when you choose to play a film.

When you do this, your browser connects to Vimeo. Vimeo may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser/device information and information about the page from which the film was opened. Vimeo may also use cookies or similar player technologies in accordance with its own policies and settings.

Where available, Monocle & Co. uses Vimeo’s Do Not Track player setting.

05Analytics

We do not currently use Google Analytics or any other website analytics service.

This means the current Monocle & Co. website does not place analytics cookies or use third-party analytics technologies to follow how visitors move around the site.

We may introduce analytics in future to help us understand, for example, how visitors find Monocle & Co., which parts of the website are useful and whether our website is performing effectively.

If we introduce analytics technologies that require consent, they will not be activated until you have made the appropriate choice.

06Advertising & Meta

We do not currently use Meta Pixel or other advertising/conversion-tracking technologies on this website.

We may introduce these technologies in future to help us understand whether our advertising leads to genuine enquiries and to improve the relevance and effectiveness of our campaigns.

Where consent is required, advertising or conversion-tracking technologies will not be activated unless you choose to allow them.

Our Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy will be updated when such technologies are introduced.

07Your Choices

Because the current Monocle & Co. website does not use analytics or advertising cookies, there are presently no optional Monocle analytics or advertising cookies for you to accept or reject.

The limited first-party browser storage described above is used to provide functional features of the website.

You can also clear cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Doing so may mean that our opening sequence is shown again or that information you’ve started entering into an enquiry form is no longer available when you move between pages.

When we introduce optional analytics or advertising technologies, the website will provide appropriate controls allowing you to accept or reject those technologies and, where required, change your preference later.

08Changes to This Policy

The technology used by our website may change over time.

We will update this Cookie Policy when we introduce or materially change technologies that store or access information on your device, including analytics, advertising or conversion-tracking services.

The current version of this policy will always be available on the Monocle & Co. website.
